SIPARD is located 5 K.m.s away from Agartala, the state capital. It is spread over an area of 10 acres with a 3 storied main building. It has the facilities to conduct 3 training programmes simultaneously. SIPARD has a well-equipped air-conditioned conference hall with audio video facilities. A hostel with a capacity to accommodate 30 persons and a small library with more than 3000 books/journals are available. The main conference hall (air-conditioned) can accommodate 120 participants. The lecture halls are well equipped with the latest facilities. SIPARD has one mini bus for transportation of the participants within Agartala. During the training period, the participants can have access to books and journals in the library. For the convenience of the participants SIPARD has Xerox, telefax, internet and E-mail facilities. The Boarding and lodging for the participants is taken care of by SIPARD.

The academic faculty consists of five Assistant Professors with specialization in public administration, rural development, gender studies, social development and information technology. In order to enrich the training and research evaluation studies being taken up by the resource persons, through out the country both from the Govt. and Non-Govt. organizations has been identified as the guest faculty to complement the effect of the core faculty.

Campus & Institute Building

SIPARD campus is spread over an area of 10 acres. Since the institute is still in the growing stage its vast area is vacant at present, which will be utilised for creation of various infrastructure. Presently the institute main building and hostel is located in the campus.

The academic building is a three-storied structure having about 9000 sq. ft. floor area, which was constructed in the year 1993 and since, then SIPARD has formally come into existence. Top of Page


Lecture Hall

SIPARD is having seven numbers of lecture and tutorial halls, which are used for the training purposes. Largest lecture hall can accommodate 125 participants, second largest lecture hall can accommodate 50 participants, 2 lecture halls can accommodate about 40 participants each and remaining 3 can accommodate 15-25 participants for training purposes. The main lecture halls are fully equipped with teaching aids like PA set, cordless microphone, conferencing system, overhead projector, slide projector, LCD projector with personal computer, VCR etc. so that effective training using audio visual media can be imparted to the trainees.

Lecture Hall

The training halls are also available on hire to Central & State Government departments & undertakings and in limited cases to the private organisations on payment of Rs.2000/- per day for the 40-50 seated rooms and Rs.3000/- for the 125-seated rooms. Top of Page

Computer Laboratory

A New Computer laboratory has been set up in SIPARD recently which is having one Pentium-III dual processor server and 24 Pentium-III nodes of Compaq make having multi media facilities. All the nodes are networked together and being used extensively for conducting computer education courses for State Government officials of all ranks.

Computer Laboratory

The Computer laboratory was inaugurated by Shri V Thulasidas, Chief Secretary, Tripura on 18-9-2000. The laboratory has so far been able to train to about 200 government officials in Windows 98 & MS Office 2000, 30 officials in Front Page 2000 and about 18 persons in JAVA programming. In addition, laboratory is being extensively used for providing training on customized softwares to employees of various departments as well as providing computer exposure to the trainees of various other courses.

The institute is having Internet connectivity through a FTDMA VSAT.

Library

As computerization is now a days adopted almost in every aspects of human life, SIPARD has started computerizing of library. Recently SIPARD has installed a new Library Automation Software called Alice for Windows for facilitating the day to day library works like bookkeeping, record maintaining, cataloging, reporting, maintaining the card, issuing the books etc. The software enables to create the database of the books, course materials, Magazines, journals and other library related documents.

Alice for Windows has different modules such as Management, Circulation, Acquisitions, Stack take, Enquires etc. Management, which helps to maintain the database of different library materials. Subject wise cataloging, encoding, maintaining and report generations of resource is possible through this Software.

Circulation module helps to control the movement of the books, journals & other resources of the library out of and into the library. All the normal functions of issue, return, renewal and reservation for individual resource is also possible through it. Part day booking, comprehensive stock taking, calendar control, circulation-orientation enquiry, fines, resource usage report, demand on resources can also be maintained in this part.

Acquisition module is suitable for all libraries with a need to control purchasing budgets. More over this module also facilities for standing orders, subscription renewals, items held on approvals and nonbook expenses such as organisation subscription are also catered for by the system.

Inquiry is the most important module for the users of a library as it enables access to the resources included in the catalogue. Through this module users are able to identify and locate all resources within the collection, which are suit for their requirement.

The literature of the books & the Journals in library has been developed. The Govt. officials are being issued a bar coded library card at using which the books are being issued from the library. Depending upon successful use of the software additional modules related to web inabilities etc will also be incorporated in the software.
